Best Bets for Wednesday Night's Games

Have a day, Ani! A perfect 3-0 on his favorites — an absolute home run on the Michael Pittman receiving yards ladder — helped us to a 7-4 day on Sunday (4-2 on our favorites… thanks, Bengals), finishing up over three units.

Don’t look now, but we are cookin’ with gas. It was a brutal start as Sharpshooters was still looking for its legs, but we’re 57-58 and up 3.6 units. And that’ll be even higher after a perfect night tonight.

We needed some time to travel and get our lives in order after the holiday, but we’re back with a solid seven-game NBA slate tonight and a big college basketball matchup.

D’Angelo Russell, over 14.5 PTS (-110 / FanDuel) — 1 unit

Russell is not the same scorer he was from 2018-2021 when he averaged 21.1 PPG over a 233-game span… he’s a better one, even despite averaging just 16.7 PPG this year. He’s no longer a pure volume guy; he’s much more efficient.

From 2018-2021, Russell shot 36.3 percent from deep and 48.3 percent on two-pointers. The past three seasons, he’s shooting 39.6 percent from three and 54.3 percent on twos.

Russell has hit this point mark six times in the past 11 games. In the first seven games of the year, Russell was shooting just 27.9 percent on 6.1 3PA per game. In the past 11 games, he’s been unconscious from deep — shooting 49.1 percent on 5.0 3PA per game.

With the Pistons allowing the most points per game to opposing point guards, I think it’s also worth sprinkling a little on Russell to score 20+ points at +310 and 25+ points at +1100.

Yes, we are double-dipping on Lakers props tonights. This is stupidly good value, so naturally, it smells kinda fishy. Regardless, I’m playing this for 1.5 units and not even thinking twice about it.

Reaves has hit this mark in 12 of 18 games this year and has done so in seven of his last nine. With those trends and the -104 juice, it’s hard not to justify hammering this play.

The total for this game is set at 229.5, so a lot of points are expected. Plus, the Pistons love to play fast, so there should be a lot of shot and rebound opportunities for Reaves in this one.

Ani’s Favorite Picks

Nikola Jokic, 14+ REB (+110 / FanDuel) — 1 unit

Jokic has absolutely dominated the Rockets this season. In their last contest he had 19 rebounds and in the one prior to that he snagged 21 boards. 

Sengun has struggled on the boards against Jokic and without Jamal Murray in the lineup, Jokic’s minutes and utilization have gone up this season. Jokic is having another MVP-caliber season, and it wouldn’t shock me to see him put up another 30+ point game either. 

The Rockets are going to be without Fred VanVleet so there is worry of a blowout here, but Jokic should still see north of 32 minutes in this contest. 

Paul George, over 9.5 REB + AST (-110 / FanDuel) — 1.5 units

I’m a bit surprised that the books have not increased this line. George has hit this mark in eight straight games and has a good matchup against the Kings tonight who are on the second leg of a back to back. 

The game environment should be fast-paced with plenty of opportunities for George to grab rebounds. The game total also sits at 231.5, and the spread is only two points so George should play at least 30 minutes in a close contest. He’s also recorded at least eight rebounds in four straight games and five of his last six so just a couple of assists could push us over this number.
