Duck, Duck, Goal
Lots of goals tonight between Anaheim and Carolina?

I don’t wanna complain, but I’m going to. I started betting hockey a week ago and we’re 6-2 and +4.6 units. We hit beautifully on the Avalanche -1.5 at +170 last night against the defending Stanley Cup champs.
But for the love of all that is pure and holy, the damn Flyers.
As a fan, I’m happy; they won in a shootout — something they rarely do.
As a team total over 3.5 bettor, I’m furious. They ended the night with three goals. Annoying, but not horrible. They had a goal overturned that looked to me like it crossed the line. Again, maybe it’s my bias.
Ryan Poehling nearly tied it from the doorstep. It was reviewed during the last stoppage, but it was confirmed no goal. Flyers still trail 2-1.

Very annoying, but still not the worst thing that happened last night.
The Flyers out-shot the Canadiens 39-19, which you would hope would result in more than two goals in regulation. Of those 39 shots, they had SIX posts. Six fucking posts. Come on, man. All we needed was one to sneak in. Can’t win ‘em all, I suppose.
I’m honestly just complaining to complain, because we ended the night 1-1 on the favorites and still finished up half a unit.
Ani caught a little of my NBA cold, going 1-4 on his favorites last night — mainly thanks to Bennedict Mathurin only tallying 16 points. He had an easy hit on Bruce Brown (over 20.5 PRA), who finished with 16 PTS, 9 REB, and 6 AST.
It’s a new night, though. Let’s ride.

This still cracks me up. 17-10 (+9.7 units) on non-NBA bets. I’m such a cuck.

Bruins @ Golden Knights, 10 PM EST
We bet against the Bruins two nights ago, and it proved effective. We bet against the Golden Knights last night, and it, too, proved effective. It appears now that we have reached an impasse.
As I mentioned in both those write-ups, both these teams have experienced some recent struggles… but Boston’s struggles don’t come close to Vegas’. The Golden Knights were shut out last night, and have now scored just 13 goals over their last seven games (1.9 goals per game).
They can’t find any offensive rhythm, and they also have struggled to get decent goalie play without Adin Hill, who was expected back last night but remained sidelined. Hill is expected to play tonight, and that would be big for the Golden Knights, but more than a month off could mean there’s some rust that needs to be shaken off.

With Vegas on the second-leg of a back-to-back, not to mention a back-to-back against two of the best teams in the league, I don’t have much faith in them figuring things out tonight.
Boston isn’t without their issues. Jeremy Swayman, the team’s starting goalie, has looked rough in his past three appearances. But I’d bet on one guy figuring it out before I would an entire offense. The Bruins’ attack should be enough to hold off the Golden Knights in regulation.
Hurricanes / Ducks, over 6.5 (-102 / FanDuel) — 1 unit
Ducks @ Hurricanes, 7 PM EST
Just two nights ago the Ducks helped me big time, scoring five goals agains the Predators to hit an over 6.5 bet. I’m back on this train one more time, but this time around we have an even better offensive opponent to help us out.
The Hurricanes are ninth in goals per game (3.40), seventh in shots per game, and second in power play percentage. The Canes have scored at least five goals in four of their last six games, and the Ducks are always prone to getting blown out.
This total has hit in seven of the Hurricanes’ past 11 games. Would not at all be surprised to see Carolina put up a six spot tonight.
